Contact Lens Types: How to Find One for You |
Contact Lens Types are not that numerous, and when
you are about ordering a pair of contacts, take effort to get the one
you really need. There are several classifications of contact
lens types, that are remarkable for certain characteristics.
The most well-known and the most used
theory includes three contact lens types varying
in functions.
- Corrective contact lenses type is the primary sort
developed, so that to be substituted for ordinary glasses. The main
purpose of these lenses is to correct vision. There are different types
for nearsighted and farsighted people that need to be prescribed by an
ophthalmologist after running various medical tests. Corrective
contacts should be placed in a fixed contact lens case
with a newly added solution.
- Cosmetic contacts are used by women and men, by teens and
children, who want to change eye appearances. Another thing that
attracts inquisitive people to optics is coloured contact lenses.
Actually they will do only for people who don't have bright colour
of eyes. In case you have green eyes and want to get cosmetic lenses
that will make your eyes look pale blue, your dream is pretty difficult
to realize. But you can choose dark hazel, brown or black contacts;
- Medical lenses should be worn by people who have
certain cornea diseases. They are put on with the only purpose
to protect a healing or damaged cornea from eyelid fluttering and
rubbing.
There is another common classification of contact lens types created
due to the material contacts are made from.
- Hard lenses are rarely prescribed today by physicians,
because eyes with such lenses on lack oxygen;
- Soft contacts or hydro gels are an improved type, it is
much
better and comfortable both for an eye and a person who wears
them;
- Silicone contact lens type is the latest development, such
lenses
can remain in an eye at nighttime, while all the previous kinds should
be taken out of eyes. The only shortcoming is that eyes may lack
moistening.
One more approach to telling one lens from another is the time it can
be worn or frequency of its replacement. Generally lenses can be daily,
monthly, for three months and for a year. A person needs to take a
contact out of an eye as often as once a day, several days
and a
week.
Contact lenses types have different designs. There are only two of
them, one is called spherical, while the other is known as toric lenses.
Make sure the contact lens type you buy will do better for your eyes,
and won't tense them up.
